Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is one of the important efforts in maintaining and improving the degree of public health, especially in elementary school-age children who are vulnerable to infectious diseases. One of the main behaviors in the implementation of PHBS is Hand Washing with Soap (CTPS) which has been proven to be effective in preventing various diseases such as diarrhea, respiratory infections, and worms. However, the correct practice of CTPS is still not completely a habit in elementary school children, so an interesting and easy-to-understand health education effort is needed. This activity is part of the Real Work Lecture (KKN) program which will be carried out at SD Negeri 157916 Tarutung Bolak Village, Sorkam District, Central Tapanuli Regency in 2026. The purpose of this activity is to improve clean and healthy living behavior in elementary school children through CTPS education using animation video media and posters. The methods used are educational and participatory approaches, including material preparation, implementation of health education, demonstration of the correct six-step CTPS, and evaluation and monitoring of student understanding.
The results of the activity showed an increase in students' knowledge, understanding, and awareness of the importance of PHBS and CTPS practices. The use of animated video media and posters is able to attract students' interest, increase their enthusiasm for learning, and make it easier to understand the material presented. Students are also able to practice the steps of washing hands with soap correctly after being educated.
The conclusion of this activity is that PHBS education through CTPS with animated video media and posters is effective in improving knowledge and clean and healthy living behaviors in elementary school children. This activity is expected to support the school's UKS and PHBS programs and become a promotive and preventive effort in preventing diseases from an early age in the school environment and the community.
